Pregnancy & Postpartum

The Problem & Our Solution
Back pain, hip pain, leaking, pelvic pressure, discomfort during sex, and difficulty staying active—these are some of the most common challenges during pregnancy and postpartum. And while they’re often brushed off as “just part of it,” they’re not things you simply have to tolerate.

At Empower PT, we support you through every stage of this journey with compassionate, individualized care. We look at the whole picture—your pelvic floor, yes, but also your movement patterns, breathing, strength, and nervous system—to help you feel strong, capable, and at home in your body.
How We're Different:
Whole-person care, not quick fixes.
We understand that your experience is unique, and your care should be too. Every session is one-on-one, focused on what you need to feel better and move through this season with confidence.
We go beyond the basics.
Maybe you’ve been told to rest or just do core exercises—but weren’t shown how to safely build strength or return to the things you love. We offer guidance that evolves with you, from early recovery to long-term resilience.
Support at any stage.
Whether you’re in your first trimester or three years postpartum, it’s never too early—or too late—to get started. You don’t have to wait for something to feel “wrong” to benefit from thoughtful, proactive care.
What to Expect:
Initial Assessment:
If you're postpartum, we'll review your birth story, recovery experience, and any symptoms you’re noticing. If you’re currently pregnant, we’ll check in on how things are feeling and what your goals are as pregnancy progresses.
We assess your movement patterns, strength, breathing, and pelvic floor function in the context of your whole body—not just your core or pelvis.
Treatment Plan:
Depending on your needs, treatment might include breathwork, pressure system retraining, pelvic floor coordination, strength and mobility work, manual therapy, and education
on how to navigate daily movement, parenting, or return to specific activities.
Commitment:
Most clients work with us weekly or biweekly for 6–12 sessions, though every plan is individualized. We’re here to support you whether you’re managing symptoms, preparing for birth, or returning to high-impact exercise.
Patient Story
“L.” came to Empower PT 5 months postpartum with lingering back and hip pain, heaviness in her pelvis, and a feeling that her body just wasn’t moving the way it used to. Her OB had cleared her for activity at her 6 week visit, but she still didn’t feel “right” returning to exercise. At a previous PT clinic, she was given a few gentle exercises but wasn’t shown how to progress or build strength in ways that felt meaningful, and she was feeling unsure of how to get back to running and strength training.

At Empower, we took the time to understand her whole-body movement patterns and provided the tools to rebuild strength, manage pressure, and move with confidence. After 9 sessions, she was back to strength training, running, lifting her baby without discomfort, and feeling much more connected to her body.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start PT after giving birth?
Q:
You can start as soon as you're ready—even while still healing. We adjust everything to meet you where you are, whether that’s early postpartum or years down the line.
A:
Is it safe to do PT during pregnancy?
Q:
Yes! We work with clients in all stages of pregnancy to support comfort, movement, and birth preparation—including labor positioning and pushing strategies, if that’s part of your plan.
A:
What if I had a C-section?
Q:
We support recovery after both vaginal and cesarean births. That can include core and scar tissue work, strength retraining, and strategies for lifting, carrying, and returning to exercise safely.
A:
It’s been over a year since I gave birth—am I too late?
Q:
Not at all. Many people come to us months or even years postpartum. It’s never too late to address lingering symptoms, rebuild strength, or simply feel more at ease in your body.
